NordicTrack treadmill Elite 9700 Pro - Review

Before I decided on the Sole F80 Treadmill I wrote this review for another model I was considering.

I suffer from treadmill envy for everyone that already owns a NordicTrack treadmill Elite 9700 Pro. I visited a friend’s home who has a great basement gym and this beauty was the star. This treadmill is great for larger men and/or heavier individuals looking to get fit as its weight capacity is 375 pounds and it has a nice wide belt.

This machine is really solid and well cushioned even at jogging and full running speeds. I turned up the incline and ran for ten minutes with hardly any wobble. I also absolutely loved the preprogrammed training cycles. This is great when you don’t want to think about your time, speed and incline levels. You can just pick the one you want and go.

Another to die for feature is being able to get online with the built in web browser. I was able to check email, Facebook and watch some online TV without ever missing a step. If you don’t want to watch or listen to online TV/radio; I saw a place to plug in your own iPod. How great is that? I plan to use this feature on my next visit.

I would defiantly have this in my home right now if I wasn’t planning a move. Once I do get settled in, this is going to be one of my first purchases. The NordicTrack treadmill Elite 9700 Pro has everything I have been looking for in a treadmill.

Sole Treadmill and the SurfShelf

For the basis of my challenge I use a Sole F80 Treadmill and a SurfShelf  from Amazon. These are wonderful pieces of equipment. The SurfShelf is inexpensive and can be added to any treadmill or elliptical equipment. At $34.99 the shelf is extremely versatile and is made of high quality plastic with a nice Velcro strap to secure your laptop. I can walk at a pretty vigorous pace, and still surf the web and write simple e-mails. For more complicated homework assignments I slow down to approximately 1.5-2.3 mph. I also love using Nuance Dragon Naturally Speaking for dictation. It makes doing homework and e-mail writing so much simpler. As for the Sole F80 Treadmill it is a wonderful treadmill! I have had my configuration set up for a month now and use the treadmill every single day! I love it. It is durable like a gym unit, and really whisper quiet.

What is a Treadmill Desk?

If you're like most Americans who work in an office or work from home, your job requires you to sit at a desk all day long. Not only does sitting for an extended period make you bored, tired, and unfocused, but your health progressively declines and you are more prone to injury. Humans were designed to move, but the nature of today's work environment takes that away from many people. After a full day of hard work, do you really want to work out? Probably not; you have countless other things to deal with like spending time with your family, running errands, and more.

Odds are you want to be healthier and happier, but you just don't have the time for it. The busier we become, the more we multitask and focus on efficiency, and approaching your health and fitness doesn't have to be any different. This is where the treadmill desk comes in.

A treadmill desk is exactly what it sounds like; a treadmill that you can use while you work at a desk. It may sound a bit silly, but consider the amount of energy you spend going for a walk. Not much, but enough to feel something, right? Now, imagine walking at a leisurely pace for 8 hours a day while you do work. That's a lot of calories burned, and you got paid while you burned them!

Using a treadmill desk isn't like using a treadmill at the gym. You're not going to be running, bouncing up and down, dripping with sweat and stressing your joints. You can walk at a slow pace, while still being able to comfortably use a keyboard, write, answer the phone, and do everything that you normally would.

Once you start using a treadmill desk, you'll be amazed at how quickly you lose weight, and how much better you feel overall. No more cramps, no more back pain, and no more dealing with dedicated workouts. There are no “miracle” claims or outlandish performance guarantees, just an easy, safe way to work-out on the job. Losing weight really is as simply as diet and exercise. You can easily burn over 100 calories an hour as you walk, which can result in weight loss of 40 to 50 pounds a year! There's no gimmicks, just simple metabolic math.

If you don't think you could use a treadmill desk, try using a treadmill on a slow setting and writing, using your cell phone, or even using your laptop. It may be a little awkward without a proper desk, but you can still do it easily. Make a phone call to someone, and they won't even know you're walking. Just go at an easy pace and you won't be out of breath or sweaty, but you'll be continuously burning calories and getting healthier.

There are many different options to choose from when looking at a treadmill desk, many of which are available online. There are options for all budgets and needs.
